Hull Cleaning

A clean hull is the simplest way to reclaim speed, lower fuel burn, and reduce vibration. Our divers perform careful, underwater hull cleaning that removes biofouling while protecting your gelcoat, paint, and running gear. Whether you need a quick pre-race scrub or a full fouling removal, we bring the right tools and techniques to keep your boat efficient and easy to drive. We service sailboats, powerboats, and commercial vessels across Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland.

Benefits of Professional Hull Cleaning

  • Restore boat speed and throttle response by removing drag.
  • Improve fuel efficiency with a smoother, cleaner underwater profile.
  • Reduce vibration and noise by clearing growth from prop and shaft.
  • Protect coatings and extend maintenance intervals with gentle methods.
  • Spot early issues like paint failure, corrosion, or loose anodes.
  • Receive before/after photos attached to your final invoice.

Our Process

  1. Confirm boat details, location, and access requirements.
  2. Perform a diver hull inspection to assess fouling and paint condition.
  3. Use appropriate tools for the surface: soft pads for paint, scrapers for hard growth, and gentle techniques for waterline and running gear.
  4. Complete a diver hull scrub across hull, keel, rudder, and trim tabs; polish the prop if requested.
  5. Document results with photos and notes for your records.

Pricing

Standard hull cleaning: $16.25/ft (CAD). Zinc installation is available at $25 per anode (+ materials). Travel or special access fees may apply outside our core areas.

FAQ

How often should I book hull cleaning?

Frequency varies by water temperature and growth. Many boaters schedule every 4–12 weeks to maintain speed and fuel economy.

Will cleaning damage my bottom paint?

We match tools to your coating and growth type. Soft pads and careful technique protect paint while removing marine fouling.

Can you polish the prop at the same time?

Yes. Pairing a prop and hull maintenance visit delivers the best performance improvement.
